Skilled Nursing Care
Monroe Community Hospital is a fully certified residential health care facility, providing long-term care for individuals with complex health conditions requiring higher levels of medical and nursing care. Approximately one quarter of our residents are under the age of 65. In addition, Monroe Community Hospital is the only facility in the region which provides long-term care for children.

As our “middle name” suggests, Monroe Community Hospital truly is a community. Residents can participate in a wide variety of leisure activities. We also have a Neighborhood Association that holds regular meetings to keep residents informed about issues and activities.

Specialty Care: Pediatric & Young Adult
Since our opening more than sixty years ago, Monroe Community Hospital has been providing quality long-term care for children and young adults. We are the only long-term care program in the region specializing in pediatric care for children with congenital defects, chronic illnesses, or head or spinal cord trauma.
Our 28-bed pediatric unit is comprised of 12 pediatric beds and sixteen young adult beds, and we can accept children four weeks old through young adults. The nursing unit promotes a fully accessible and homelike living environment which provides for the children's total physical, social, and psychological needs. We provide an on-site classroom, individualized educational planning, and both indoor and outdoor activity areas, including a new, fully-accessible pediatric playground.

Alzheimer's & Dementia Care
Monroe Community Hospital provides a special program for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Residents with these disorders are cared for by our dedicated and compassionate staff in a safe and understanding environment. The resident rooms and living areas have recently been renovated and feature a fully accessible area where residents can enjoy a bright and cheerful sun room or stroll through the adjoining garden courtyard.
