 Become a Volunteer at MCH

MCH offers a wide variety of volunteer positions to match your skills and interests.  Each opportunity allows you to share your time and talents with others and experience the warm and welcoming MCH community.  Training is provided and time commitment is flexible, based on your schedule.

Here are just a few of the many opportunities:

Friendly Visitor
Supporting residents with a friendly visit may be one of the most rewarding volunteer roles at MCH! Visitors provide conversation, interaction, and companionship; they also accompany residents to recreation programs and activities, or to places of interest within the MCH campus.

Transport Assistance

These volunteers transport residents in wheel chairs to and from activities, events, and church services held on-site at MCH. This is a great way to make a positive impact, as well as “get your steps in” throughout our beautiful facility!

Sales Associate

The MCH Auxiliary operates two stores on-site. Tapestry Gift Shop offers a wide range of sundries, snacks, clothes and gifts. The MCH Thrift Shop provides gently used clothes, accessories and household items at affordable prices. Both stores need volunteers to  provide friendly customer service; cashier; and keep the shop tidy and organized. Previous retail experience preferred; computer experience required for the Gift Shop.

Hair Salon

The resident Hair Salon is always bustling, and Transport volunteers make sure residents get to and from their appointments. Clerical volunteers assist with scheduling appointments, answering and placing calls, and record keeping.

Clerical

This opportunity is available “as needed” by various departments at MCH. If you enjoy filing, making copies, preparing mailings or packets; or data entry and creating or editing documents, this role is a great fit!

Resident Tech Support

The Tech Support volunteer assists residents of Monroe Community Hospital with issues that crop up with their phones and other devices.  The ideal candidate will have great people skills, as well as a broad knowledge of a variety of phones, TVs, tablets, Alexas and other internet dependent devices.

Do you have special skills or abilities that you enjoy sharing with others, such as foreign language, ASL proficiency, artistic or musical skills, or hobbies? Please contact us and let’s discuss!

“I have always liked to help other people, which was why I got into nursing. Once I retired, I started to volunteer as a way of giving back. Its nothing profound, but it makes me feel good to help the residents; to lend an ear, and over time I have learned to really listen to them. It is fascinating to get to know them and hear their stories. I think we are all put on this earth to help each other, and this is my way of doing it, of caring!”
