MCH Celebrates a Legacy of Service
After 31 years of dedicated service to Monroe Community Hospital, Director of Nursing Kristen Schulmerich is retiring.
Schulmerich was celebrated last week during a special ceremony attended by family, colleagues, friends and Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, who presented her with a plaque recognizing her decades of service to MCH and the community. Bello praised Schulmerich for her steadfast leadership and commitment to residents and staff, particularly during some of the most challenging periods in health care.
Schulmerich began her MCH career as a certified nursing assistant and advanced through the career ladder, becoming an LPN, RN, employee health nurse, nurse manager, assistant director of nursing and, ultimately, director of nursing services in 2020. She led the nursing department through the COVID-19 pandemic and helped strengthen recruitment, training, teamwork and staff morale.
“Kristen’s impact on MCH goes far beyond her title,” said Alyssa Tallo, Executive Health Director. “She has spent 31 years building relationships, mentoring others and showing what it means to lead with compassion. She has been a steady presence for our residents and our team, and her influence will continue through the people she has supported and inspired.”
Schulmerich’s last day at MCH is Sept. 29. She leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership and compassion that will continue to shape the MCH community for years to come.
