The baseball action was heating up in Rochester when teams from across New York came to town for an American Legion tournament. But for some players, one of the most memorable moments happened away from the ballfield.

Several players visited Monroe Community Hospital to spend time with some of the residents living at MCH.

The players swapped stories, shared laughs and spent time getting to know the residents. In return, the resident put their own mark on the visit by autographing baseballs for the players to take home.

Some of the players and residents even continued the fun at a Rochester Red Wings game!

For the players, it was a chance to hear stories and make connections with a generation that knows a thing or two about teamwork, dedication and showing up for others. For our veterans, it was a chance to share memories and cheer on a new generation.

It’s hard to say who enjoyed the visits more. One thing is certain: everyone left with a memory worth keeping.
