Monroe Community Hospital (MCH) is proud to announce that Karoline Schulz, Director of Rehabilitation Services and Therapies, has been selected as the first-ever Wound Care Warrior through Mission Health’s newly launched regional recognition program.
Mission Health originally planned to debut Wound Care Warriors in 2026, but a wave of strong nominations — including a compelling submission about Schulze — inspired the organization to begin the program early. Schulze will now represent MCH as the inaugural honoree.
Schulz, OTR/L and MPA, was nominated by a colleague who praised her leadership and deep commitment to residents, including her weekly participation in wound rounds and ongoing support of MCH’s wound care team.
“Karoline frequently goes above and beyond,” her nominator wrote. “Her passion and expertise have a profound impact on our residents, our team, and our community.”
Her work was instrumental in helping a resident with a non-healing ischial pressure injury continue participating in wheelchair rugby.
"Through her advocacy and creativity, Schulz collaborated with Mission Health to conduct pressure-mapping studies using the resident’s rugby wheelchair and identified a safe seating solution that allowed him to remain active."
Mission Health launched the Wound Care Warrior program to recognize caregivers who champion prevention, education, and innovation in wound care and pressure injury management while demonstrating exceptional commitment to the patients and communities they serve.
