Outdoor Picnic Series Returns This Summer

Monroe Community Hospital is turning up the heat this summer with the return of its highly anticipated 2026 Summer Picnic Series in the Gail DeRitter Pavilion (Lot 5), hosted by the Food and Nutrition Department.

 

Designed to bring staff, residents, and families together for great food and good company, the series features a delicious lineup of themed meals and outdoor gatherings from June through September. The series is open to the community.

 

The season kicks off in sizzling style with a Pig Roast on Wednesday, June 10, featuring smoked pork with choice of sauce, potato salad, collards, dinner roll and a drink for ($17, presale; $20 day of the event).

 

Next, things get spicy with a Backyard BBQ on Wednesday, June 24, with choice of burger, hot dog or sausage with baked beans, mac salad/potato salad and a drink ($10). Order blueberry crisp for an additional $3.


The summer picnic series also includes:


  • Sliders: featuring hot honey, chicken and waffles, BBQ beef brisket, smash burger (2 for $7; 3 for $9; 4 for $12) – Wednesday, July 8.  

  • Greek Street, featuring kebabs ($15) – Wednesday, July 22.

  • Chicken BBQ, state fair marinated chicken ($13) – Wednesday, Aug. 5.

  • Rib Fest, 1/3 rack of ribs, ($13) – Wednesday, Aug. 19.

  • Seafood Boil, shrimp, clams, snow crab and corn with drink ($15) – Wednesday, Sept. 2.


Additional items will also be on sale. The Summer Picnic Series highlights the culinary talents of the Food and Nutrition Department while celebrating the vibrant community spirit that makes MCH a special place to live and work.
