1826
Facility opens as the
County Almshouse
on South Avenue.
1929
Siegmund Firestone recommends to county officials that a new home be built.
1931
Construction begins on a new
$4 million facility on East Henrietta Road adjacent to the Erie Canal.
1933
Construction, which incorporates the unique style of architect Thomas Boyde Jr., is completed.
1966
The MCH Auxiliary is
founded to support the quality of life of the residents
1967
The facility is now called the Monroe Community Hospital for the Care of the Chronically Ill.
1968
T. Franklin Williams, MD, is named Medical Director and serves through 1981.
1990
The T. Franklin Williams MD Foundation is founded to support resident independence.
