Tierney Messmer has stepped into the role of Merchandiser at the Tapestry Gift Shop, succeeding Janet Allardice, who retired after 14 years of dedicated service.
Known simply as “T” by friends, Messmer began her new role over the summer and is excited to continue the shop’s tradition of being a welcoming spot for residents, staff, and visitors. The gift shop is operated by the MCH Auxiliary.

“I’m passionate about curating unique, meaningful items that make people smile,” Messmer said. “I see the gift shop as more than just a store — it’s a small but powerful part of the hospital’s culture and community, and I’m excited to continue making it a bright spot in people’s day.”
A graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Messmer spent 13 years running her own bridal makeup business, traveling across New York State to help clients prepare for their big day. That fast-paced work taught her the value of service, attention to detail, and making every interaction special — skills she is now bringing to MCH.
“I want to continue growing the gift shop into a welcoming, engaging space that brings joy to staff, residents, and visitors alike, while also supporting the Auxiliary’s mission through thoughtful merchandising and purchasing decisions,” Messmer added.
The MCH Auxiliary praised Messmer for bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and a strong passion for retail to the position. It also thanked Allardice for her creativity, hard work, and unwavering commitment, noting that she will be deeply missed.
The Tapestry Gift Shop, located on Faith 1, is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shoppers can find a wide range of snacks, drinks, clothing, accessories, greeting cards, and other unique gift items.
All proceeds directly benefit the MCH Auxiliary, which has served the community since 1966 by enhancing the well-being and quality of life of residents through volunteer service, fundraising, and special programs.
