Monroe Community Hospital (MCH) welcomed the holiday season with joy, music, and community spirit at its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, a beloved tradition that brought together residents, families, staff, and friends.
The excitement grew as Santa Claus himself made a special visit to MCH, greeting residents and sharing a holiday story that captivated listeners of all ages. His appearance sparked moments of nostalgia, laughter as he reminded everyone of the magic this season brings.
Adding to the fun, residents and guests were treated to a surprise visit from Peanut the goat, who quickly became the star of the evening. Peanut wandered from group to group offering nuzzles, posing for photos, and bringing pure delight to everyone who met him, proving that holiday cheer does sometimes comes on four hooves.
The ceremony included the most cherished moment of all: the lighting of the MCH tree, led by three MCH residents. As the lights sparkled to life, the room erupted in applause, marking the official start of the holiday season at the hospital.
This year’s event also featured caroling with students from the Nazareth University School of Music, whose voices filled the auditorium and inspiring both sing-alongs and smiles throughout the crowd.
The students also led the entire auditorium in singing of “The 12 Days of Christmas," a tradition that brought plenty of laughter as attendees chimed in with their favorite verses.
Once again, the Tree Lighting Ceremony showcased the heart of MCH, where community, compassion, and celebration shine the brightest during the holidays.
