Nancy Davis is not giving up the Vince Minestrone Golden Ladle anytime soon after her Chicken Corn Chowder recipe won the annual Souper Bowl tournament.
“They gave me the ladle last year and I’m not ready to give it up,” Davis joked after the championship win.
Organized by MCH’s Food and Nutrition Department in partnership with Morrison Health, the third annual Souper Bowl turned up the heat with employee-created recipes, cooked up by the department and taste-tested by staff during the NFL's playoffs.
Resident and employees sampled soups, voted for their favorites, and even won free bowls of soup with fun football-related games that paired perfectly with winter’s comfort food.
In the end, Davis’ Chicken Corn Chowder narrowly defeated Robert Bennett’s Lasagna Soup. Other participants included, Zuppa Toscana (April Williams), Red Lentil Soup (Cynthia Boland) and Creamy Tomato & White Bean Soup (Beth Gillette), White Bean Stew (George Vater), Winter Soup (Gail Hamilton), and Creamy White Lasagna Soup (James Rood).
