Monroe Community Hospital (MCH) is proud to recognize physical therapists Kaylin Kilpatrick and Cassidy “CJ” Rose for earning their Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS) credential, an advanced certification focused on evidence-based stroke recovery care.

The CSRS certification is designed for physical and occupational therapists seeking specialized training in stroke rehabilitation. The program includes nearly 30 hours of intensive coursework, exposure to the latest research-driven techniques, a comprehensive examination, and much more.
Stroke is a leading cause of serious long-term disability in the United States, affecting nearly 800,000 people each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. MCH serves a large population of individuals recovering from stroke, making specialized rehabilitation expertise critical to improving outcomes and accelerating recovery time.

“The CSRS certification allows us to provide more targeted, evidence-based therapy specific to this population,” Rose said. “It helps us better address impairments, improve functional outcomes, increase discharges to home and enhance overall quality of life.”
Kilpatrick said the certification strengthens both patient care and education. “I hope to bring more knowledge to our patients and their families about stroke rehabilitation while appropriately challenging patients to reach their maximum potential,” she said.
MCH’s Rehabilitation Program offers comprehensive, patient-centered physical, occupational and speech therapy services, with a strong emphasis on stroke recovery, mobility and independence. The interdisciplinary team works closely with nursing and medical staff to deliver individualized care that supports recovery, long-term wellness and safe transitions of care.
Both therapists said they are grateful to have completed the program together and are eager to apply their expanded skills across MCH’s rehabilitation services. Their achievement reinforces MCH’s commitment to delivering high-quality, specialized care to individuals recovering from stroke.
